Dr. Way - H: 6-10 ft, W: 6-12 ft, Sun: Part to full, Fruit: Large clusters of average size berries that ripen uniformly in September - October. Note: Developed by Dr. Way at Cornell University. Needs another variety of American elderberry as a pollinator, Zone: 5.
Goldbeere – H: 6-12 ft, W: 6-12 ft, Sun: Part to full, Fruit: Clusters of green/yellow berries that ripen late summer to early fall. Note: This variety is partially self-fertile but should be planted with another European variety of elderberry. Zone: 4-8.
Marge - H: 5-8ft, W: N/A, Sun: Full, Fruit: Large berries that ripen in August on second year canes. Berries are good for juice, pies, preserves, syrups, and wine. Note: Hybrid between American and European elderberries, self-pollinating, and diseases resistant, Zone: 3-10.
Maximum - H: 6 -10 ft, W: N/A, Sun: Full, Fruit: Large berries that ripen in August, Note: Developed by Cornell University. Needs another variety of American Elderberry as a pollinator, Zone: 3-10.
Ranch - H: 5-6ft, W: N/A, Sun: Full, Fruit: Ripens in late August/early September, Note: Needs Nova or York as a pollinator, cold hardy, drought tolerant, and tolerant of poor soils, Zone: 3-8.
Wyldewood - H: 5-8ft, W: 5-8ft, Sun: Part to full, Fruit: Small berries on large clusters that ripen in August, Note: Needs Ranch or Bob Gordon as pollinator, tolerant of poor soil, and can be mowed to ground once dormant, Zone: 4-8.
