Creeping Lemon (Thymus spp.)  - H: 9-12 inches, W: 10-12 inches, Sun: Full, Zone: 6-9, Description: Low growing plant with tiny white and green leaves that have a lemon scent. Uses: Can be used to flavor fish, poultry, and salads. Leaves can also be used to make a flavorful tea. Note: Annual and deer resistant. 

 

English (Thymus vulgaris) - H: 1 ft, W: 1-2 ft, Sun: Part to full, Zone: 5-8, Description: Low growing, upright stemmed with tiny gray/green leaves with white/pale pink flowers. Uses: Can be used in baked goods, beef, casserole, eggs, honey, lamb, soups, and stuffing. Note: Perennial and deer resistant. 

 

Foxley (Thymus pulegioides) - H: 6-8 inches, W: 1-2 ft, Sun: Full, Zone: 5-9, Description: Low growing plant with white and green leaves and pink flowers. Uses: Can be used with meats, salads, sauces, soups, stews, and stuffing. Leaves of this variety are softer and less chewy than other thyme varieties and good for adding to fruit and vegetable salads. Note: Good for containers, perennials, and deer resistant. 

 

French ( Thymus vulgaris) - H: 6-12 inches, W: 6-12 inches, Sun: Part to full, Zone: 5-8, Description: Low growing plant with upright stems of green leaves and pink flowers. Uses: Can be used with meats, ragout, seafood, soups, stews, and vegetables. This variety has a milder thyme flavor than English thyme. Note: Perennial deer resistant, and drought tolerant. 

 

Golden Variegated Lemon (Thymus citriodorus) - H: 10-12 inches, W: 1-2 ft, Sun: Full, Zone: 5-9, Description: Low growing plant with upright stems of green and gold variegated leaves that have a lemon scent and lilac-colored flowers. Uses: Good for use with fish, poultry and vegetables. Also, a nice garnish. Note: Good for containers, deer resistant, and perennial. 

 

Hi Ho Silver (Thymus argenteus) - H: 6–12-inch, W: 6-12, Sun: Full, Zone: 4a-11, Description: Low growing plant with small silver/grey green leaves. Uses: Can be used in any recipe with common thyme is called for. Note: Good variety for containers and window boxes. 

 

Lavender (Thymus vulgaris thracicus) - H: 6 inches, W: 18 inches, Sun: Full, Zone: 5-11, Description: Low growing ground cover with needle-like green leaves and lavender color flowers. Both leaves and flowers have a lavender scent to them. Use: Primarily used as perfumy ground cover. However, leaves can be used in baking, cooking, and soap making too. Pot size: 3.5-4.5-inch. 

 

Lemon (Thymus citriodorus) - H: 6-8 inches, W: 1-2ft, Sun: Full, Zone: 5-9, Description: Low growing plant with upright stems of green leaves that have a lemon scent. Flowers are lilac colored. Uses: Good for use with fish, poultry and vegetables. Also, a nice garnish. Note: Good for containers, deer resistant, and perennial. Pot size: 3.5-4.5-inch. 

 

Mother of Thyme (Thymus praecox) - H: 4-6 inches, W: 1-2 ft, Sun: Full, Zone: 4-8, Description: Very low growing plant with tiny gray/green leaves and pink flowers. Uses: Good groundcover for rock gardens and walkways. Plants can be use medicinally and we recommend you refer to a certified herbalist regarding the uses. Note: Perennial and deer resistant. 

 

Pink Chintz (Thymus serpyllum) - H: 1 inch, W: 1-2 ft, Sun: Full, Zone: 4-9, Description: Very low growing plant with tiny grey/green leaves and pink flowers. Uses: Used as a ground cover. 

 

Red Mother of Thyme (Thymus serpyllum) - H: 3 inches, W: 1-2 ft, Sun: Full, Zone: 4-9, Description: Very low growing plant with tiny gray/green leaves and dark pink flowers. Uses: Good groundcover for rock gardens and walkways. Note: Perennial and deer resistant. 

 

Silver Edged (Thymus citrodorous) - H: 9-12 inches, W: 1-2 ft, Sun: Full, Zone: 4-10, Description: Low growing plant with silver and gray green leaves and lilac/purple flowers. Uses: Dried leaves can be used with breads, fish, marinades, meat, poultry, stew, stuffing, and vegetables.  Note: Perennial and deer resistant.

 

Woolly (Thymus pseudolanuginosus) - H: 4 inches, W: 1-3 ft, Sun: Full, Zone: 4-9, Description: Very low growing plant with fuzzy gray leaves and tiny pink flowers. Uses: Ground cover in rock garden or walkways. Note: Deer resistant and perennial.
